Positions of the cylinder of the lock of ignition on cars with petrol engines (fig. 1.24) :

I\ignition is switched off;

II\ignition is included;

III\engine start-up by a starter. After start-up of the engine it is necessary to release a key immediately.

Positions of the cylinder of the lock of ignition on cars with diesel engines (see fig. 1.24 ):

I\an engine stop (by fuel interruption of supply);

II\inclusion of system of power supply and mode of prestarting heating of the engine;

III\engine start-up by a starter. After start-up of the engine it is necessary to release a key immediately.

After key extraction from the ignition lock the steering is blocked.

PREVENTION It is strictly forbidden to take out a key from the ignition lock during car movement as the steering wheel will be blocked.

For blocking of a steering establish a key in situation I (see fig. 1.24 ), take out it from the lock of ignition and turn a steering wheel in different directions before fixing by the lock of a shaft of a steering. If after key installation in the ignition lock the key does not turn in situation II, rotate a steering wheel in different directions, at the same time turning a key.

Before each repeated start-up of the engine the key should be turned in situation I.
