15.6.2. Main malfunctions of a starter

On cars starters from 0,9 kW can be applied to petrol engines in volume of 1,6 l, to 1,7 kW — for diesel engines with a turbokompressor of the Bosh brand of the DM or DW type (with a lowering reducer).

Removal of a starter make in the following order:

– disconnect a "minus" wire from the plug of the storage battery;

– note an arrangement of wires on the traction relay 11 starter (fig. 15.19) then disconnect them;

– will hang out and fix on basic racks a forward part of the car;

– as the forward support also is fixed by a bolt of fastening of a starter, support the power unit from below a jack or the winch;

– unscrew bolts and remove a starter.
